OmniVision has received 3.2-megapixel CMOS image sensor (CIS) orders for Apple’s next-generation iPhone, according to market sources. The company is also said to have secured 5-megapixel CIS orders for another Apple product expected to be launched later in the year.

OmniVision beat out STMicroelectronics and Aptina Imaging for the Apple orders.

Microsoft has released a second commercial in their new "Laptop Hunters" ad campaign targeting Mac prices. In the new commercial, "Giampaolo" is given a budget of $1500 with which to find to a laptop with his desired features of portability, battery life, and power. After browsing several PC's, Giampaolo takes a look at Apple's notebook offerings, but ultimately decides against them.

This is so sexy, but Macs to me are about aesthetics more than they are the computing power. I don't want to pay for the brand. I want to pay for the computer.

Giampaolo eventually settles on an HP HDX 16t, closing the commercial with the comment "I'm a PC because I'm really picky."

Ας ένα προς ένα τα νέα χαρακτηριστικά του iPhone OS 3.0, όσον αφορά την πλευρά των καταναλωτών:

1. CUT, COPY, PASTE

Jason Chen:

Here’s how you select text. double tap onto a bit of text and it automatically places a “CUT, COPY, PASTE” bubble above your current selection. Double tap to bring up a paste bubble later to paste.

To select an entire block of text, put your thumb on the right drag point and drag it to where you want your block of text to end. You can drag the left drag point as well.

You can drag between apps as well, through the same process. Double tap, then drag in order to select what text you like, then double tap and paste to paste it.

You can also copy and paste web content. The phone uses the same analytics engine in Safari that they do for zooming in order to know which selection to select for copying. Yes, HTML paste for copying. If you didn’t mean to paste something, shake your phone in order to Undo (or Redo) your paste.

Cut and paste can work across multiple apps, has undo support, can work with developer APIs, and can use Cocoa Touch support for regular text.

2. Multiple Photo sending via Mail.app

You can now send more than one photo at a time with 3.0 by tapping the action button, selecting a bunch of photos, copying, and then pasting it into the Mail app.

3. Landscape mode in Mail, Notes and Messages apps

Next, Landscape. Apple’s had support for landscape mode for Safari since launch, and can enter text in wide-keyboard mode. Now you can use landscape in “all key applications” including Mail.

They’re also adding support with the big keyboard for composing messages in Mail as well. It also works in Notes and the “Messages” application.

4. Enhanced Messages.app

Jason Chen:

You can forward and delete messages–individual messages or multiple messages.

The BIG news is that they’re adding support for MMS. You can send and receive Photos right over the network. Contacts (VCard). Audio files. Or your location.

5. Voice Memos

Jason Chen:

Next, Voice Memos. (No sending video in Messages it seems). You can record voice memos to yourself, lectures, interviews using the built in microphone or an external microphone. You can trim it using the phone itself, then send it on using email or MMS.

6. Enhanced Calendar

Jason Chen:

Then there’s Calendar. They had personal calendars first, then Exchange (last year) and MobileMe. They’re now adding CalDAV, a calendar standard that’s supported by a lot of people like Google and Yahoo. It’s useful for shared calendars. Second is subscriptions, using the .ics format.

7. Enhanced Stocks

Jason Chen:

Now is Stocks. They’re adding support for news stories (headlines) in the bottom of the app, plus details like highs and lows and PEs. There’s also landscape view.

8. Search in Mail (iMAP support), Calendar, iPod and Notes

Jason Chen:

Search! Not only can you search inside the Contacts application, which was there in iPhone 2.0, you can now search in all of the key applications, including Mail.

There’s also search in Calendar, iPod (search by artist, album, etc) and Notes.

B. Lam:

Search in Mail! Works on the server using iMAP

If your search isn’t found on your iPhone, the search continues on the server.

9. Spotlight

There’s now a new home screen where you can search across all those applications, and they call it Spotlight. The search is to the left of your regular home screen, and you access it by flicking left from your standard home.

You can also search Apps and use Spotlight as a quick launcher instead of going all the way to the 8th screen and searching for your app.

Here there are some question you might ask:

Q: When the app will be published?
A: It’s on-line, you’ll find it in cydia.

Q: Will i be able to send any file?
A: Yes, image support is built in, and the file viewer allow you to send ANY file on the device.

Q: Will i be able to send music?
A: Music can already be sent by selecting an MP3/wav/aiff file from the file system. However, i’ll include a music library to send ipod syncronized songs directly in the near future.

And, the most important question:

Q: Why i have to pay 3.99 euro for this app?

A: Mainly, because apple didn’t want to include a full bluetooth stack to be used by the developers. Implementing a complete and stable stack (with all the bluetooth profiles) is nearly impossible for me in a short time, so i’ve considered the idea of buying a complete (and well-tested) stack. Now, there are only 3 stack that supports almost all bluetooth profiles: BlueMagic, BCHS, ClarinoxBlue and, of course, all of these are VERY EXPENSIVE.
So, i’ve decided to make you pay* this application, so i can buy one of those stack for ALL the community and implement a background daemon that will provide a full-featured stack for ANY developer out there.

Please, understand that the “free way” is not the right way.If you want this application “for free” then take the “a cracked version”, but you’re essentially removing yourself the possibility to have more features, such as: A2DP (Audio stereo), Serial Port (needed for bluetooth gps), DUN & LAP (internet navigation), implemented in a small time and used by all of the developer out there: think at xgps developers adding support for bluetooth gps devices or other free developers adding bluetooth functionality to native apps like contacts, photos… or any other infinite idea that developer can have!

And, yes, writing a complete stack is always possible, but how much do you think it will take? Look, i’ve spent 3 month only for the obex part… and that’s a small part: it’s just one (ONE) profile out of 27!

So, think about it!

Ναι είναι γεγόνος, το iPhone OS 3.0 έρχεται σύντομα! Το Engadget μετέδωσε ότι η Apple θα παρουσιάσει δείγματα από την έκδοση 3.0 του iPhone OS στις 17 Μαρτίου μαζί με την νέα έκδοση του iPhone SDK. Όλοι οι κάτοχοι του iPhone πρέπει να είναι ενθουσιασμένοι γιατί αναμένονται σημαντικές αλλαγές στην έκδοση 3.0. Η εταιρία τονίζει φυσικά ότι πρόκειται για “Preview” άρα δεν περιμένουμε να είναι διαθέσιμο κάτι άμεσα, εκτός κι αν κάποιες από τις λειτουργίες εμφανιστούν στην σύντομα-αναμενόμενη έκδοση 2.3.

Μείνετε συντονισμένοι λοιπόν για να δούμε τι ετοιμάζει η Apple για την αγαπημένη μας συσκευή.

Ένα από τα καλύτερα παιχνίδια όλων των εποχών για Playstation πρόκειται να κυκλοφορήσει και για το iPhone πολύ σύντομα! Πρόκειται για το Metal Gear Solid! Αν και απ' οτι φαίνεται δεν θα είναι πιστή κόπια του original game αλλά θα θυμίζει Crysis με πρωταγωνιστή τον Snake!

Σύμφωνα με φήμες, προς το παρόν τουλαχιστον, η Cosmote ετοιμάζεται να φέρει το iPhone 3G και να σπάσει το μονοπώλιο της Vodafone στην Ελλάδα!

Όπως και να ‘χει για να υπάρχει καπνός σύντομα θα ξεσπάσει και φωτιά, στην προκειμένη περίπτωση δηλαδή θα έχουμε κάποιο νεότερο σχετικά με την διάθεση του iPhone!

A turn-by-Turn GPS application for the iPhone, the G-Map application, already exists in the App Store. There is no monthly fee required and no internet or wi-fi connection needed. Each application (XRoad Co.’s G-Map U.S. West and G-Map U.S. East) will cost you $19.99.

We briefly tested the app, and it does indeed provide turn-by-turn directions (distance countdown to each turn) by way of GPS. Local points of interest (Food, Fuel, etc.) can be found, addresses can be searched, routes can be edited, detours added, and types of roads can be avoided (highways, toll roads, etc.). If a turn is missed, the route is recalculated. The app even is said to have 3D Images of major intersections (we were unable to verify). Notably absent, however, are voice prompts to let you know when the next turn is.

However, this app looks awesome.
